RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am an interdisciplinary health researcher and occupational therapist with a research program that examines and informs the health, wellness and social inclusion of people labeled as disabled. My research focuses primarily on people labeled with developmental disabilities (DD) (e.g., intellectual disability, autism, Down syndrome) with the goal of improving their health and everyday life experiences over the life course through shifts in how disability is understood and addressed in health and social care policy and practice. My research program builds on my combined training in occupational therapy, public health sciences, public health policy, critical social sciences, disability studies and qualitative methodologies.
