BIO

Dr. Gözde Mercan is a psycholinguist interested in the question of how language is represented in the human mind and how it is processed during both comprehension and production. She got her Ph.D. in cognitive science with a major in linguistics and a minor in psychology from Middle East Technical University. Her research interests include experimental psycholinguistics; the processing of Turkish morpho-syntax by mono-, bi-, and multilingual speakers; and Turkish as a foreign and heritage language. Currently a faculty member of UofT, Dr. Mercan taught and carried out research at various universities including Harvard, the University of Oslo, the University of Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle, and the Middle East Technical University, Bilkent, Hacettepe, and Ufuk Universities in Turkey.
