I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto’s Institute for Aerospace Studies, cross-appointed to the Department of Computer Science and affiliated with the Robotics Institute. I lead the Learning, Embodied Autonomy, and Forecasting (LEAF) Lab, where my research focuses on robot learning for safe, efficient autonomy, with emphasis on forecasting, planning, control, and world models. Before joining U of T, I was a Senior Research Scientist at Waymo Research and a Postdoctoral Scholar in Berkeley AI Research with Sergey Levine. I received my PhD and MS in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, and bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Swarthmore College. My work has received best-paper recognition at venues including ICCV and the ICML Workshop on AI for Autonomous Driving.
