BIO

Andrea brings to Troost ILead her dubious sense of humour and over 15 years of experience with interdisciplinary community-engaged research, primarily with social enterprises and more broadly with social economy organizations. Her research at Troost ILead explores engineering leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration and learning for sustainability, and equity in occupational outcomes among engineering graduates. Her earlier research focused on the instrumental and relational supports in community nonprofit enterprises that promote work outcomes and overall wellbeing of people who experience social and economic exclusion.

Andrea has served as Awards Chair of the Engineering Leadership Development Division (LEAD) of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). She is currently Vice President and Chair of Journal Management of the Canadian Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research (ANSER-ARES). Andrea has an MA in Public Policy and Administration from Toronto Metropolitan University, and a PhD in Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto.
