BIO

I am interested in the development of oral language and literacy skills in the primary years. My research also goes beyond the classroom to focus on the role of home and community literacy practices in reading and writing development.

As a Caribbean native, I have a keen interest in language and literacy development of children in creole-speaking, and similar contexts where primarly oral languages and vernaculars are spoken, that differ from the language of schooling.
