BIO

Dr. Sessle is a Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry and the Department of Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine. His internationally-renowned research into orofacial pain and neuromuscular function and dysfunction has been supported for over 40 years by both the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the U.S. National Institutes of Health. He is Past-President of the International Association for Dental Research, the Canadian Association for Dental Research, The international Association for the Study of Pain, and the Canadian Pain Society. He has published 11 books and 450 journal articles and book chapters, delivered 490 invited lectures around the world, and mentored numerous students, postdoctoral fellows and visiting scientists.. Dr. Sessle was Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry from 1990-2001.
