BIO

PhD Communication and Culture, York University; Coordinator, NEWONE, Learning without Borders, New College. Artistic Director, ArtSci Salon at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences (Toronto). Co-director, SLOLab, York University
I am an interdisciplinary scholar in Media and Cultural Studies and STS, and artist and curator intersecting art, technoscience, and social justice.
My research examines the way emerging/surviving/adapting life forms exceed and challenge the categories defined by traditional methods of classification and how this can lead to the adoption of new interdisciplinary research methods and new forms of collaborations and alliances. The mobile gallery Emergent is a vessel, an artifact, and, importantly, a research tool featuring encounters at the intersection of art and science with new, fabricated, and adapting life. The mobile gallery is currently in its third prototype and will continue to evolve in the next 5 years as I embark in new research projects. My artistic work has travelled internationally to galleries (Malta Arts Society, Valletta; Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice) art festivals (Transmediale, Berlin; Hemispheric Institute Encuentro; Sao Paolo), community centres (Immigrant Movement International, Queens NY, Myseum of Toronto), and science institutions (RPI; the Fields Institute). I have published in Space and Culture, Cultural Studies and The Canadian Journal of Communication among others. My book (2024) is titled Viral Behaviors.Viruses and Viral Phenomena across Science, Technology, and the Arts.
I am a Scholar in Residence at Sensorium, Centre for Digital Arts and Technology (York University).
