BIO

Harvey L. Nicholson Jr., Ph.D. is currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto (UofT) - St. George Campus. Before joining the UofT, he was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Central Florida and an M.A. in Sociology from Lehigh University. His primary areas of research include substance use behaviors, health disparities, the social determinants of health (SDOH), racialization, and interracial relations.

His work appears in various peer-reviewed journals such as Sociology of Race & Ethnicity, Drug and Alcohol Dependence, Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Race and Social Problems, Sociology Compass, and Sociological Spectrum.
