Dr. Sameena Eidoo (she/her) is an award-winning educator, researcher, and faculty member in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL).

She is the Principal Investigator of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Insight Development Grant-funded study exploring Muslim narrative change in film and television. This study examines what Muslim cultural workers are doing to elevate Muslim dignity on screen. As a former collaborator with the Narrative Change Lab, Dr. Eidoo led the development of the inaugural lab cohort program that convened Muslim cultural workers from across the country to develop a narrative system, and designed a curriculum centered on reimagining Muslim narratives.

Her book, Shaping Muslim futures: Youth visions and activist praxis (2021), amplifies the counter-narratives of activist Muslim youth living into their desired futures, and creates space for readers to clarify their own. It bridges critical approaches to Muslim studies, youth studies and futures studies, and applies an intersectional analysis. Grounded in community wisdom, the resource is for youth, educators, and organizers. Shaping Muslim Futures was featured on the Canadian Council of Muslim Women’s Islamic Herstory Month Reading List.

Previously, Dr. Eidoo served as Assistant Director, Education and Programs at the Multi-Faith Centre for Spiritual Study and Practice, University of Toronto. In this leadership role, she curated arts-based programming that provoked examination of life purpose and meaning, and situated faith and spirituality as an embodied experience mediated by power. She served on the University of Toronto's tri-campus Equity Committee, and advised on religious accommodation policy and practice.
