BIO

Sheliza Ibrahim brings a diverse background to UTM. After teaching and researching for over a decade at various universities in the field of Mathematics Education, she now teaches Numeracy for University and Beyond at the Institute for the Study of University Pedagogy. She also researches and facilitates skill development in computational thinking and numeracy across the campus and through broader community outreach.

Sheliza is an international scholar working in collaboration with universities, mostly across the Caribbean, to explore professional development for mathematics and science educators, and pedagogical design in the teaching and learning of STEM subjects.

Sheliza holds a PhD in Science Education from York University, an MSc in Science Communication from Queen’s University Belfast, and an Hons BSc in Biology and Anthropology from UTM.
