BIO

Helen Jefferson Lenskyj was born in Sydney, Australia, and moved to Toronto, Canada in 1966. She completed teacher training in Sydney, and obtained her BA, MA and Ph.D. at the University of Toronto, 1972 to 1983. She began part-time teaching at the University of Toronto in 1986, and in 1990 was appointed Associate Professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, U of T. In 1996 she was promoted to Full Professor, and after retiring from U of T in 2007, became Professor Emerita. Helen continues to work as a researcher, writer, public speaker and community activist, and has published three books as well as numerous book chapters, journal and magazine articles since retiring. More autobiographical details can be found in her 2005 publication, A Lot to Learn (Toronto: Women’s Press).
