Professor Sandra Styres is Canada Research Chair in: Iethi’nihsténha Ohwentsia’kékha (Land), Resurgence, Reconciliation and the Politics
of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. An associate professor in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching, Dr. Styres is also the Director of the Indigenous Educational Research Centre and Co-chair of the Deepening Knowledge Project. Her scholarship examines Indigenous issues in education across all levels and varieties of contexts that includes Indigenous resurgence, philosophies and perspectives, as well as decolonizing practices, among others. Dr. Styres teaches courses grounded in Indigenous perspectives such as Indigenous civilizations, land-centered education, literacies of land, trauma informed practices of care, and community engagement.
