BIO

Dr. Katherine Tamminen is an Associate Dean, Graduate Education and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education.

Dr. Tamminen's research in sport psychology focuses on stress, coping, and emotion in sports, athlete mental health, and young athletes’ experiences in sports. Her current research examines how the relationships between emotion regulation and mental health/mental illness, how athletes cope with stressors in sports and parent-child communication in sports. She also researches interpersonal emotion regulation and social aspects of coping and emotions in team sports. Dr. Tamminen teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on sport and exercise psychology, stress and coping, and qualitative research methods. She is a co-Editor in Chief for the journal Psychology of Sport and Exercise, and she is also the Past-President of the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology (SCAPPS).
