BIO

Professor Joseph M. Bryant holds a cross-appointment in the Department of Sociology (St. George) and the Centre for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto. A historical sociologist, his primary research interests are in the areas of the philosophy of science, the sociology of culture, and the Mediterranean worlds of ancient Greece and Rome, with a specific focus on the rise of Christianity. He is the author of Moral Codes and Social Structure in Ancient Greece (1996); and he recently co-edited, with John Hall, a four-volume set entitled Historical Methods in the Social Sciences (2005).
