BIO
Dr. Samantha Green is currently a family physician at the St. Michael’s Hospital Sumac Creek Health Centre in Regent Park and an Assitant Professor at the University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine under the Department of Family and Community Medicine. She is also a faculty lead in climate change and health in addition to being a Board Member at the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment. Dr. Green completed medical school at the University of Ottawa in 2011 and residency in Family Medicine residency at McMaster University in 2013.
At Sound Times, a drop-in centre for people who are homeless, struggling with addiction, or involved in the criminal justice system, she additionally offers primary care once a week. Her clinical work focuses on underserved groups, particularly those who are homeless, involved in the criminal justice system, or new immigrants. She serves as the Chair of Health Providers Against Poverty, a member of the Ontario College of Family Physicians' Poverty and Health Committee, and a member of the advocacy group Cycle Toronto. From 2014 to 2016, she served as the Inner City Health Associates' primary care lead. The team from the Treating Poverty Workshop and Dr. Green won the PD Award for excellence in continuing education in 2015–16.
