BIO
Dr. Martin Krkosek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and is a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Marine Epidemiology. He works on population ecology in the areas of conservation, disease, and fisheries. His group does fieldwork, laboratory experiments, mathematical modeling, and statistical modeling. He runs a long-term field program on salmon in British Columbia on the ecology of salmon and their parasites in partnership with the Salmon Coast Field Station. Prof Krkosek's group collaborates with several non-academic organisations including the Musgamagw Dzawada'enuxw Fisheries Group, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Pacific Salmon Foundation, and the Wildlife Conservation Society. He is the Editor in Chief of the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences and is an Associate Editor for the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, Biological Sciences. He teaches courses in population ecology and theoretical ecology at senior undergraduate and graduate levels.
