Adalsteinn Brown

Adalsteinn (Steini) Brown is the Dean of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He has worked with decision-makers in Ontario and elsewhere to develop research and capacity development programs in performance measurement, quality improvement, and leadership.

Prior to becoming Dean, he was the Director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation and the Dalla Lana Chair of Public Health Policy also at the University. Other past roles include head of strategy for the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care and the Head of Policy and Science for the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation.

He received his undergraduate degree in government from Harvard University and his doctorate from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He was also named one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40 for his work on healthcare performance. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
