Dr. Kieran Quinn is a General Internist and Palliative Care Clinician-Scientist at Sinai Health System and a Clinician-Scientist at the University of Toronto and the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES). His research focusses on improving access and delivery of high-quality end-of-life care for patients with terminal noncancer illness, such as heart failure and dementia. Dr. Quinn also is passionate about improving the recognition and care of patients with the post COVID-19 condition (long COVID) and leads a large research program to that effect. His goal is to develop and evaluate innovative models of care through research to support the right patient, in the right location, at the right time.
Kieran completed his MSc in Cardiovascular Physiology and his PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation as a Vanier Scholar in the Eliot Phillipson Clinician Scientist Training Program at the University of Toronto. He was awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal for Academic Excellence as the top-ranked graduate student across the entire School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto.
Kieran has methodological expertise in advanced analytic methods using large administrative datasets. His early research success includes over $2.5 million dollars in competitive grant funding and 3 CIHR grants as Nominated Principal Applicant. He has 63 peer-reviewed publications, including 40 as first author or senior author in high impact journals such as JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, BMJ and CMAJ.
He is also a dedicated husband to his incredible wife and loving father of his 3 kids.
