BIO

Edward Xie works as an emergency physician and Clinician Investigator at University Health Network and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM), University of Toronto.

 

Dr. Xie is a member of the leadership table of the Collaborative Centre for Climate, Health and Sustainable Care, University of Toronto and was the past Faculty co-Lead of Climate Change and Health in the DFCM. He completed an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing at the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is currently a PhD candidate in Health Systems Research. He also serves as a Director on the board of Canadian Doctors for Medicare and was a past board member of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment.

 

Dr. Xie's academic interests focus on health equity, health system financial protection, access to medicines, social and environmental justice, sustainability in health care settings, extreme heat, and planetary health.
