RESEARCH INTERESTS

An expert in oral microbiology and immunology, Dr. Kishen investigates topics in dental infections and chronic wounds, including analyzing interactions between host tissue and harmful bacteria. His research and clinical specialities include nano-biomaterials, connective and mineralized tissue biology and wound healing, endodontics, and oral microbiology.
In the past 16 years, his lab has been focusing on naturally-derived nanoparticulate systems, engineered to promote wound healing in general but with significant impact within the field of dentistry, Kishen has also found success through commercialization of his work. To date, he has co-developed eleven patents and/or invention disclosures. One of his inventions has been incorporated into UnoGel, a product that reduces tooth sensitivity and launched through the startup, Oral Antibacterials Inc.
