BIO

Professor Ramin Farnood obtained his BASc (1987) and MASc (1990) degrees in Chemical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and his PhD (1995) from the University of Toronto. He joined the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto as a faculty member in 2000 and served as the Associate Chair Research of the Department from 2009 to 2017. He was subsequently appointed as the Vice Dean Research of the Faculty in 2017. Prior to joining U of T, Farnood held various industrial R&D positions at Paprican, Abitibi-Price, and Trojan Technologies.

Innovation Clusters: advanced manufacturing, data analytics and artificial intelligence, sustainability, water.

Expert in: bio-products and bio-energy, biomass conversion, environmental engineering, membrane separation, micro-structure characterization, paper physics, surface science, UV disinfection, wastewater reuse, water treatment.
