BIO

“My primary goal is to improve the health and well-being of older adults.”

Martine Puts, RN, PhD, FAAN, leads a research program focused on the health and functioning of older adults, with a specific focus on geriatric oncology. She currently holds the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Care of Frail Older Adults. Dr. Puts is particularly interested in evaluating the comprehensive geriatric assessment, and developing online tools so that patients and non-specialists can assess their functional capacity as they undergo cancer treatment.

Dr. Puts has received the Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing Scholarship into Practice Award (2019), the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology Award of Excellence in Nursing Research (2018), and the Paul Calabresi Award from the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (2018). She was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing in 2020.
