BIO
Leslie is currently the Director of the Centre for Professional Development in the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. Throughout her career, Leslie has focused on creating opportunities for continued professional development of nurses and clinical specialization. She is an excellent Canadian nurse leader and has a valuable depth of experience as a clinician, leader, nurse executive and status faculty member.
Several honours have been bestowed on Leslie including: the E.M. Howard Award for Nursing Leadership at Mount Sinai Hospital; The Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology Award of Excellence; and the Administration Award for Excellence in Nursing Administration from Sigma Theta Tau International, Lambda Pi chapter.
Additionally, Leslie served on many professional and public committees. In 2004, she was the only nursing member on the Provincial Expert Panel on SARS and Infectious Disease Control. She’s co-chaired a best practice guideline on collaborative teamwork in nursing for the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario Healthy Work Environment Best Practice Guideline initiative and is a former president of the Academy of Canadian Executive Nurses of Canada. Leslie’s also served as chairs for the Chief Nurse Executives of the Ontario Council of Teaching Hospitals and the Toronto Academic Health Science Network Chief Nurse Executive Committee.
