BIO

Tim Welsh is a Professor at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education. The objective of his research is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie the goal-directed actions of people from average and special populations. Over the last decade, his interest has shifted from how individuals act alone to how individuals in groups coordinate their actions to achieve common goals (joint action). Welsh has over 150 publications and his academic achievements have been recognized with several research and graduate teaching awards, including the Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award from the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology, Early Distinguished Career Award from the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, and Outstanding Graduate Supervision Award from the University of Calgary.
