Prof. Peltier is University Professor and Professor of Physics in the Department of Physics at the University of Toronto where he is Founding Director of the Centre for Global Change Science and Scientific Director of the SciNet facility for high performance computation. His involvement with Aquanty is connected with his research in the area of high resolution climate change projection of the evolving influence of the global warming process. Knowledge of the expected impacts of this process on the Canadian land mass and globally is critical to understanding its influence on global and regional hydrology. He is the past recipient of the Sloan, Steacie, Killam, and Guggenheim Fellowships, as well as the Vetlesen Prize of the G. Unger vetlesen Foundation of New York, the Bower Award and Prize of the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia, and the Killam Prize in natural science of the Canada Council for the Arts. Among many other awards and honors he was a recent recipient of the Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal in Science and Engineering of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Canada’s premier research award. Furthermore, Dr. Peltier received an honorary doctorate DSc from the University of Waterloo.
