BIO

Dr. Sandy Pang is a Professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and cross-appointed at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Toronto. She completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of California San Francisco and her Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes of Health in the United States. Dr. Pang’s research focuses on the fields of drug metabolism, drug transport, and pharmacokinetics.
Her recent work examines the kinetics of calcitriol, the active component of vitamin D, as well as new pharmacological targets of the vitamin D receptor. Her team continues to study drug metabolism and interactions, with a particular focus on calcitriol or other interesting concepts, including drugs of abuse on how these are transported into cells and metabolized by the brain, liver and other organs.
Dr. Pang has published numerous journal articles in her field and been the recipient of multiple prestigious awards and honours including the Scientific Achievement Award from the International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics and the Pfizer Research Career Award for Excellence in Research from the Advancement of Faculties of Pharmacy in Canada.
